ParaNordic Skiing

Here’s a link to SooToday about ParaNordic Skiing

Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club Para Nordic skier, Quinn Currie took 2nd place with a time of 17:35.0 in the 1.3 km Sit Mens Development Category at the Ontario Cup held in Naughton, Ontario at the Walden Cross Country Fitness Club on January 19th.  This was Quinn’s first time skiing away from home and he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  Quinn started cross country sit skiing last year but he has embraced it with tremendous enthusiasm and vigor.

Para Nordic skiing is a fantastic sport for persons with mobility disabilities who are interested in improving their fitness level.  Sit skiers require upper body mobility to propel along a groomed ski trail while Blind athletes ski with a sighted guide.  Quinn is learning that strength is a small part of the sport as with each training session his endurance and technique to manage his sit ski improve his performance.

Anyone interested in trying out Para Nordic skiing should contact the Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club for details.

Team Sprint and BBQ

It was a cold Saturday morning on February 9th but that didn’t stop 100 or more Soo Finnish Nordic Club Jackrabbits, Racing Rabbits, Track Attack, and Race Teams from having a great fun Team Sprint event and BBQ afterwards.
